API cleanup

I'm working to simplify the API and the system as a whole too :), in
this process I removed initng_active_db_search_in_name a few minutes
ago. Some other functions may be listed as deprecated and eventually
will be removed too.

I would like to know some opinions, there are many candidate functions,
and I hope this doesn't make too many inconvenients for 3rd-party
modules.

BTW, what's about the logging patches?

Geee! :-D I'll pull your changes over as soon as I'm finished with the
jamification of our own build system, and check whether they need adoption.
Frankly, I never really had the balls to send in a patch because I never
thought it to be a very elegant solution and was quite a bit overwhelmed by
InitNG's API. But no more! :-)
